Bardhere,(insidesomlaia.org)- Officers of the Union of Islamic Courts publicly talked to residents of Bardhere District (Gedo Region, southwestern Somalia).

The officers said that as from today they are in control of the district and will govern it under Islamic law.

The officers have already set up a new Islamic court in the district to govern people along Islamic rules. They appointed Sheikh Mohamed Muhamad aka Garasey as chief justice and other four deputies.

The sheikh has said that the court will start operations as soon as possible.

However, the district commissioner and the other government administration were not present
